Restoring peatlands for long-term climate benefits

The Storflon project covers 79 hectares of peatland in Sweden. By conserving a peat layer of approximately 0.4 metres, the project keeps an estimated 6,100 tonnes of carbon in the ground. The project is implemented in cooperation with NABU.

The project is designed to conserve peat carbon, reduce greenhouse gas emissions from degraded peatland and support the recovery of wetland habitats. Any future carbon removals will depend on site conditions and monitoring results.
