Restoring peatlands for long-term climate benefits

The Digertjärnsflon project covers 85 hectares of peatland in Sweden. By conserving a peat layer of approximately 0.9 metres, the project keeps an estimated 30,200 tonnes of carbon in the ground. The project is implemented in cooperation with NABU.

The project is designed to conserve peat carbon, reduce greenhouse gas emissions from degraded peatland and support the recovery of wetland habitats. Any future carbon removals will depend on site conditions and monitoring results.
